Read the 'Insensitive' Tweet – Now Deleted – That Led to Full-Blown Apology
December 19, 2013
"...working on his Emmy for most ignorant local sports personality."
One minute Dean Blevins, sports director for KWTV-TV in Oklahoma City, was minding his own business at dinner with his wife at a local restaurant on Monday...and then he stopped minding his own business.
In fact, he let Twitter know all about it:
Blevins' tweet was later deleted but not before being captured (above) by The Lost Ogle...and being met with no shortage of umbrage.
Some responses (and Content warning: some rough language):

Others went right to Blevin's station:

As you might guess, Blevins tweeted an apology:

According to MediaBistro, KWTV's parent company told TVSpy: “Griffin Communications actively promotes and encourages diversity in our community and our business and does not agree with nor condone Dean’s comments. Griffin deleted the tweet in accordance with our strict social media policy which includes monitoring both station and talent social media accounts on a daily basis.”
