That's...Impressive: 'Brazen' Thief Caught on Camera Walking Off With Restaurant's 250-Pound Safe

"I need to start going to the gym he goes to."

Massachusetts police are scratching their heads over a case involving a strong-armed thief and a 250-pound safe.

Owner Kevin Hynes says a man walked out of his Stockholders restaurant in Weymouth, Mass., earlier this week lugging the vault.

“I’ve never even heard of something this brazen,” Hynes, who has spent more than three decades in the food service industry, said as he watched the surveillance footage.

The footage shows the thief entering the restaurant and disappearing down some stairs – all the while on the phone.

“That tells me it was one of the employees, an inside job,” said Hynes. “Or it was one of the delivery guys.”

The man in the video then comes back up the stairs carrying a large object wrapped in a trash bag.

“That’s saying something for trash bags I guess,” Stockholders customer Dana Snowdale told CBS Boston.

“I need to start going to the gym he goes to,” another customer added.

No arrests have been made.

Hynes isn't saying how much money was in the safe, but he said it “was enough to hurt.”

The restaurateur is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the man's arrest. He says he's since bought an even heavier safe and bolted it to the concrete floor.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
