NBC's Chuck Todd: Gates book 'reinforces one of the biggest knocks against' Hillary
January 08, 2014
A claim in former Defense Secretary Robert Gates' forthcoming book "reinforces one of the biggest knocks against" Hillary Clinton, according to NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd.
In the book, "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary of War," Gates says both the former state secretary and President Obama admitted in front of him that in 2007 they opposed the Iraq surge for political reasons.
"This only reinforces one of the biggest knocks against Hillary Clinton that she will say and do anything to win," Todd said on his MSNBC program Wednesday.
Clinton is, of course, widely believed to be a leading contender for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
