“I'd never seen this before..."
An Oklahoma man was arrested Tuesday on murder charges after a medical examiner ruled his stepfather was killed in a fight that involved blows to the head… and an "atomic wedgie."
The Oklahoman reported 33-year-old Brad Davis allegedly "jumped" his stepfather, 58-year-old Denver Lee St. Clair, in his home in McLoud, Okla., on Dec. 21. Amy Elliott, the spokewoman for the state's medical examiner's office, told the newspaper St. Clair's cause of death was deemed to be blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation.

How, you might ask, would a wedgie lead to asphyxiation? An atomic wedgie is when the waistband of someone's underwear is stretched over the wearer's head. Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth told The Oklahoman St. Clair was found with his underwear pulled over his back and head, the waistband around his neck.
“I'd never seen this before, but when we first looked at our victim seeing the waistband of his underwear was around his neck,” Booth told the newspaper.
At the time Davis was arrested Tuesday, no formal charges had been brought, but KOCO-TV reported Wednesday that he had been charged with first-degree murder.

According to the Shawnee News-Star, the arrest warrant recorded that Davis admitted he hit St. Clair several times and performed the atomic wedgie. The men were fighting about a financial issue. KOCO reported that Davis also was upset at harsh words by St. Clair directed toward his mother.
