Beck Ruthlessly Mocks White House's Elaborate Plans for French President's Visit

Glenn Beck on his radio program Tuesday relentlessly mocked French President Francois Hollande's visit to the White House this week, and the elaborate lengths to which the White House has gone to make Hollande and his delegation feel welcome.

"[President Obama] is busy concentrating on creating jobs," Beck said in a deeply sarcastic tone. "He understands, because he's lecturing us all the time, he understands the little people ... And he's tired of these elites; and he's tired of these big corporate giveaways, and people abusing the taxpayer. He understands. He understands."

Beck proceeded to read a report from Reuters describing how the White House will turn "a heated tent on its frigid South Lawn into a Monet-inspired gala fit for a French president." Apparently the cold winter in Washington, D.C. will be "transformed into a spring-like scene inspired by Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, with quince branches in full bloom, irises, blue agapanthus and lilies."

The menu will reportedly feature caviar harvested from Illinois streams and 12 varieties of potatoes. Dessert is described as a "Hawaiian chocolate-malted ganache, fudge made from Vermont maple syrup, and puffs of cotton candy dusted with orange zest."

Beck proceeded to adopt a haughty accent, saying: "Don't you hate the rich? Have you tried to ganache? ... Is this caviar harvested from an Illinois stream, did I hear you say?"

"Only twelve varieties of potatoes!" his co-host Pat Gray added in mock indignation.

Beck said he understands that it is a state dinner, but suggested that instead of turning the tent into a Monet painting and bringing in gilded couches and quail eggs, they just have a "really good meal that average Americans, if they are lucky, are having right now."

In Beck's opinion, Obama should say: "I'm worried about our people, and I know you are worried about your people too. So we're just going to have a great meal, and it's about the conversation. And quite honestly, Mr. Hollande, if you don't like it, we don't have as much in common [as we thought], because you, apparently ... are turning into Louis XVI."
