Study Finds That One In Four Americans Don't Understand This Basic Scientific Fact About the Earth
February 16, 2014
More than a quarter of Americans incorrectly believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth, according to a new study by the National Science Foundation.
When asked, "Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth," 26-percent of the 2,200 individuals surveyed in 2012 answered incorrectly, according to NPR.

Further, only half of those surveyed understood that antibiotics are ineffective against viruses.
The findings were released on Friday at an annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Chicago.
