Thousands of individuals turned to Twitter Wednesday morning to demand that teenager Justina Pelletier be released back to her parents after a legal battle between her family, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and Boston Children’s Hospital, and two controversial medical diagnoses.
For a brief period of time, the "#FreeJustina" hashtag was trending No. 1 in the United States:
