Keith Olbermann, host of ESPN 2's "Olbermann," was off the air Wednesday night, explaining the following day that he's come down with a case of shingles.
"FYI regarding my whereabouts: I am suffering from shingles," Olbermann tweeted Thursday morning.
He sent off a few more tweets poking mild fun at his condition before perhaps going too far.
"To those asking," he said, "shingles feels like you fell three flights. On to sharp poison ivy. Which then spontaneously combusts. Emitting toxic fumes."
Olbermann, 55, also said his knee "buckled" recently.
Shingles defined by WebMD:
Shingles is a painful skin rash. It is caused by the varicella zoster virus. Shingles usually appears in a band, a strip, or a small area on one side of the face or body. It is also called herpes zoster.
TheBlaze Blog sincerely wishes Olbermann a very speedy recovery.
