Caught on Video: Mother Confronts Young Daughter's Alleged Bully – Things Quickly Spin Out of Control
March 07, 2014
"Everybody loses here."
"This girl bullies my daughter every day," Irisdaly Rios told WTVJ-TV in Miramar, Fla. after her brief stint behind bars over slapping a 12-year-old girl multiple times in front of a shocked crowd.
The girl Rios slapped around and reportedly punched in upper lip is Ashley Perez, seen on a bystander's cell phone video confidently approaching a white vehicle driven by Rios after she had just picked up her daughter from Hialeah Middle School Tuesday:

Rios said she thought Perez was looking to start a fight with her daughter, who allegedly has been bullied by Perez — and Rios snapped:

Perez didn't completely back away and take it, either. The police report indicates she scratched the arm and neck of Rios, 35, while swinging back, according to WFOR-TV in Miami. Here's a screenshot of a blow Perez leveled on Rios after the main skirmish:

"She got aggressive, and I think she felt her daughter was in danger," Perez told WTVJ after the incident.
Perez said she and Rios’ daughter had argued before but never fought. So when Rios came out her vehicle, Perez said she believed Rios was attempting to patch up things up.
"That's why I walked to the car, because usually, if it was another mother, she'll be like, 'Oh, what's happening to my daughter. Let's fix this up,'" Perez told WTVJ.
But it was Perez who needed patching up; the middle schooler spent Thursday at the doctor’s office getting her wounds checked out.
"I've got scratches on my back, my teeth is broken, and my head started hurting a lot,” she told WTVJ.
Hialeah police used the cell phone video to identify Perez and Rios, who was arrested on charges of simple battery on Wednesday.
"Everybody loses here,” Hialeah Police spokesman Carl Zogby told WTVJ. “We'd rather people go to the proper authorities if there's bullying going on. Go to your school. Call the police before it gets to this point."
