Driver of BMW Learns the Hard Lesson Behind Why You’re Not Allowed to Park in Front of Fire Hydrants

Firefighters responded to a heavy fire at a Boston home Wednesday night to discover a BMW sedan illegally parked in front of a fire hydrant.

With the fire raging and escalating from six alarms to eight within one hour, the Boston Fire Department had to get to the hydrant as soon as possible.

So they reportedly smashed the car’s windows and ran the hose right through it:

Odds are, the driver of the BMW will never illegally park in front of a hydrant again.

Twitter user @NEFirebuff, a Boston freelance photographer who snapped one of the photos above, told TheBlaze on Twitter that the firefighters ran the hose through the car, as opposed to over or around the vehicle, because the hose needs a straight path to the hydrant in order to get enough pressure.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported in the fire, though one firefighter was reportedly transported to the hospital to get checked out.

The fire is believed to have started in the "engine area" of a car parked in the garage. The Boston Fire Department tweeted that the blaze caused $750,000 in estimated smoke and water damage.
