Dash-camera footage from the Russian city of Murmansk shows a meteor burn up in the atmosphere, lighting up the previously pitch black Russian sky.
"Visually, it's a bright one, but not unusually bright," NBC News space analyst James Oberg said.
Others commenting on YouTube appeared to disagree.
"I can't believe a burning rock can produce so much light," wrote one individual. "For a fraction of a second, it was practically day time."
"It is wonderful to see how it lights up the night sky," echoed another.
