Mothers Everywhere Will Immediately Understand Why This Texas Mom Instinctively Turned Into a Ruthless Fighter

"I only know to fight..."

Ask any mother and they’ll tell you that a mom’s instincts to protect her children are wildly powerful.

So it should come as no surprise that a Texas mom instinctively turned into a ruthless fighter when a pit bull attacked her 2-year-old daughter, Mackenzi, at their Alvin, Texas, home in March.

Knowing her daughter’s life was in serious danger, Chelsi Camp fought the animal, shoving her fist into the dog’s mouth and even biting off its ear. While still battling the pit bull, the mom told her young daughter to roll over so she wouldn’t choke on her own blood.

“I only know to fight so how else do you get somebody to stop I mean I would do the same thing with a human being.” Camp told KHOU-TV.

Thankfully, Mackenzi’s mom saved her life. However, she needed sutures and will reportedly have to stay out direct sunlight for a year.

Camp suffered some dog bites on her arms, but in general the mom-daughter duo are doing OK.

It's not entirely clear what triggered the pit bull to attack. Camp said the dog "came up and he was just curious and when he smelled her that’s when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her."

"During the struggle, Camp managed to call 911.  An officer who showed up at the scene shot the dog but didn't kill it," the report adds.

The dog was reportedly later put down.
