Watch One of the Most Pathetically Terrible Carjacking Attempts Ever Caught on Video

Police finally caught up with him when he crashed into a truck.

A man high on drugs ended up clinging to the side of a New York City taxi cab for 8 miles after he unsuccessfully tried to carjack the driver on Monday.

Matthew McCorkle, 26, faced a judge on Tuesday to face more than a dozen charges, including DUI, grand larceny and reckless driving.

McCorkle first approached the cab and attempted to break the glass with his elbow. He failed at that too. Then he told the driver to open the door, a request that was denied.

The scared cab driver took off, but ended up taking the would-be carjacker with him for eight miles until the cab had to stop for traffic.

CBS New York outlines what happened next:

That’s when police said he jumped off the cab, pulled a 61-year-old male driver out of another car and drove off.

Police finally caught up with him when he crashed into a truck.

McCorkle has a long rap sheet that includes criminal possession of a stolen weapon, driving with a suspended license, and drug violations, CBS 2 reported.

A judge ordered McCorkle held on $200,000 bond.
