Lao Military Plane With Defense Chief Crashes (UPDATE: Multiple Officials Dead)

UPDATE: 12:40 a.m. ET: A diplomat told the New York Times that the crash killed multiple senior officials, including the minister of defense and minister of public security.

BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand's Foreign Ministry says a Laos air force plane believed to be carrying 20 people including the country's defense minister has crashed in Laos.
The spokesman, Sek Wannamethee, says he was not confirmed if there were any casualties from the Saturday morning crash.
He says he was informed of the accident by authorities in neighboring Laos.
He did not immediately have any other details.
