College Republicans Slam the President With Twist on Popular Song: ‘Say Something, Obama’

The South Dakota College Republicans released a video Monday that took aim at President Barack Obama by putting a spin on a popular Christina Aguilera song.

The video, titled "Say Something, Obama," begins by showing a group of young individuals anxiously watching a 2008 Obama speech.

It then fast forwards to 2014, appearing to show the same individuals disillusioned with his policies and having a difficult time finding work — all to the tune of "Say Something."

"Say something, I'm giving up on you," the chorus of the song says, adding that "anywhere I would've followed you."

The video pans over one individual as she unfollows the president on Facebook. In another, a male student appears to angrily rip up Obama campaign material.

Toward the video's closing, several news articles that show Obama's approval among millennials flash over the screen.

"The South Dakota College Republicans present to you a video that describes our generation," the group said in a statement. "Young people who were inspired by President Obama's historic candidacy in 2008 are now disillusioned by liberal government and broken promises."

At the time of publication, the video had just under 3,000 views on YouTube.
