The Incredible Thing That Made a 17-Year-Old Singer Break Down on Live TV

17-year-old Abby Anderson recently left Glenn Beck in awe at a local graduation ceremony by singing her own version of "My Country 'Tis of Thee,'" which she has called "Let Freedom Ring." Beck said it was the best version of the song he has ever heard, and praised how "authentic and real" it was.

With Beck's help, Anderson -- a classically trained singer, songwriter, pianist and guitar player -- has recorded "Let Freedom Ring," made it available for download on glennbeck.com and iTunes, and seen her name spike in the bestseller charts.

"I wanted to say it was -- it's definitely my heavenly father," Anderson said on Glenn Beck's radio program Friday, giving all the credit to God. "As I was playing, it was almost as if I moved my hands, but it's like God was moving them."

The teen both smiled and fought back tears as she continued.

"It's definitely one of those moments where you feel really, really close to God. And I knew, I just had this feeling, 'My Country 'Tis Of Thee,'" Anderson continued. "I didn't know why, but it was as if he moved my hands. It's like I knew where I was supposed to go, and it's just the coolest experience. I really just can't explain it."

Anderson said she decided to do the song at 10:00 p.m. the night before the ceremony, and "it was as if [God] almost wanted to emphasize [that] he's the reason we have freedom in this country, and he's the reason for our founding fathers and he's the reason for everything."

Beck said Anderson's version perfectly conveys the message, perhaps even better than the original version.

When asked what she plans to do in the future, the 17-year-old laughed and said at the moment, she's preparing to take the ACT.

"I'm just ... playing all that is out," she said. "I just know this is what I want to do, you know? ... This is what I think the heavenly father wants me to do, and I just enjoy it and I love it."

Anderson and her family have agreed to donate all the proceeds from the single to Mercury One's Active Military and Veterans Fund.

“All proceeds go to the charity," Beck said. “We don’t make a dime off of it.”
