A Flight Attendant Figured Out How to Make People Pay Attention to Safety Speeches

"What a GEM he was!"

Decked out in a long-sleeved shirt, shorts and a fat patriotic tie, one flight attendant is shaking up the safety speech game.

"In the event that you haven't been in an automobile since 1960, flight attendants still have to show you how to fasten a seatbelt," the flight attendant started with some dry humor on a Tuesday Southwest Airlines flight between San Francisco and Chicago.

The flight attendant then told passengers to keep the belts low on their hips, "just like the hot pink Speedo I'm going to be wearing when I finally get the three of us to a hotel hot tub."

The jokes got a little dark at times, but the passengers seemed to eat it up — and the Internet's eating it up too, as the video had nearly one million views early Saturday afternoon.

According to the video poster, the flight attendant also hosted a cocktail party halfway through the flight.

"What a GEM he was!" the poster wrote in the video description.
