Caught on Video: Furious Man Confronts Police Officers After a Cop Entered His Private Property and Shot His ‘Best Friend’ in the Head

Sean Kendall began filming just moments after he learned that police had entered his private property and fatally shot his 2-year-old Weimaraner in the head.

In the gut-wrenching video, Kendall says he was called by animal control and informed that police entered his fenced in yard and shot his dog. When he arrived home, he confronted the officers and demanded to know what had happened.

“What was the probable cause to trespass on private property and kill my dog?,” Kendall asks in the video.

“We were looking for a lost child,” one of the officers replies, later adding, “He entered the yard looking for a lost child. He was threatened by the dog and shot the dog. That’s as simple as it gets.”

Later in the video, Kendall tells officers they will be hearing from his attorney.

"I know it wasn't you personally, but you guys killed my dog! I've had this dog for three years, he was my best friend! And he was shot, because an officer couldn't back the f*** up out of my house," he screamed.

Kendall told the officers there is a problem with police killing people's animals and "something's got to change."

"What happened was wrong!" he yelled before dropping the camera.

TheBlaze contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department on Thursday and we were directed to a statement that indicates an investigation into the officer's actions is underway:

During the search for the missing child, a dog unfortunately was shot by a responding officer. The department regrets the unfortunate outcome of this incident. As with any firing of a service weapon, the department’s Internal Affairs Unit is conducting a review to determine whether the shooting conformed to policy. While the investigation has yet to be completed, the following is an account of what is known at this time:

Officers were searching nearby structures and yards for the missing child from Fillmore Street. Informed that the child was largely non-verbal and likely would not respond to calls by name, officers began to search the neighborhood. Officers knocked on the door of this address and received no answer. Given the urgency to find the child, an officer entered the back yard to see if he had possibly wandered back there. After entering the backyard, the officer encountered a dog that approached him in an aggressive manner. The officer, in turn, shot the dog. An investigation as to whether the officer’s actions conformed to policy is underway by the Internal Affairs Unit.
