Muslim Cleric Says Islam Sees No Distinction Between Combatants and Civilians, So Killing American Women and Children Is Fine

“In its war with the infidels, Islam recognizes no distinction between regular armies and civilians.”

A radical Muslim cleric in Sudan with a history of incendiary statements against the U.S. now says that under Islam there is no distinction between combatant and civilian and thus American women and children are fair game for militant attacks.

“In its war with the infidels, Islam recognizes no distinction between regular armies and civilians,” said Sudanese cleric Muhammad Al-Jazouli at his Friday sermon, citing a fatwa, or religious ruling.

The Middle East Media Research Institute found video of the sermon and posted translated excerpts online.

In the sermon, Al-Jazouli said he had been “overjoyed” to hear of one particular hadith, that is, a tradition related to the prophet Mohammed.

Al-Jazouli quoted a statement once conveyed to the prophet Mohammed that when Muslims would attack “the polytheists at night, women and children would be harmed.”

“The Prophet Muhammad answered: ‘[Their offspring] constitute part of them.’ They are part of them, said our beloved Muhammad. This is not merely someone's opinion. Thus, killing their women and children is permitted,” Al-Jazouli said.

“America is fighting us and there are countries that are allied with it. The Prophet Muhammad said that it is a duty to fight and target America, and same goes for targeting its allies,” he added.

At the end of his presentation, the crowd chanted “Allah Akbar. Allah Akbar,” MEMRI reported.

The religious leader who appears frequently on Sudanese television has a history of incitement against Americans.

In 2011, he said, “Each and every one of us... must believe in the necessity of attacking the U.S. – its people, its economy, its military forces and its civilians all over the world.”

In 2012, he said if he had the power, he would turn America into a thing of the past in six months.

Just this past January he said, “The shedding of the blood of infidels is for the sake of purification and security.”

“We must draw a distinction between the concepts [of chaos and jihad]. The killing of an infidel, the bombing of an embassy, the killing of U.S. diplomats, or the killing of Rafidite Shiites do not constitute chaos. These are great, noble, and blessed steps towards order,” Al-Joulani said according to a MEMRI report in January.
