A Construction Worker Captured Video of Himself Atop a Chicago Skyscraper — and the Footage Is Terrifying

A helmetcam view from a worker on one of the tallest points on the John Hancock building in Chicago provides a unique — and terrifying — view of the Windy City and Lake Michigan far below.

As one of the tallest buildings in the world, standing at 1,128 feet, anyone would have good reason to be frightened working on the outside of the building, exposed and held by just some cable system. But for the two gentlemen operating on one of the building's antennas, it was just another day in the life.

The description of the video said the workers were making a notch cut in the antenna "so that mast can be installed to start removal of the top sections."

ChicagoInno pointed out that it's unclear why the work on the antenna is being done in the first place, but it noted that the antennas were bought by an investor in 2012 for $70 million.

Prep work for the antenna's removal started last year and the YouTube user L1irnwrkr posted another video from atop the skyscraper:
