Police in Chicago arrested a man who had an Islamic State flag waving from his car after he allegedly issued a serious bomb threat against officers when he was pulled over on Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a call about a “suspicious person” driving around with an Islamic State flag waving out of the window. When police attempted to pull over the driver, later identified as 49-year-old Emad Karakrah, he led police on a chase through several red lights.
When officers finally pulled the car over, the suspect allegedly told police that there was a bomb in his vehicle and it would detonate if they searched the car.
The serious threat had the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and a bomb squad responding to the scene. A search of the vehicle, however, did not turn up a bomb as the man threatened.
Karakrah was arrested and charged with felony counts of disorderly conduct and aggravated fleeing, as well as a misdemeanor count of driving on a never-issued license, the Chicago Sun Times reports.
Karakrah, who was ordered by a judge to be held on $55,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court on September 3.
