Duck Dynasty' Star Phil Robertson's Latest Comments About Immoral Sexual Conduct and 'Horrible Diseases' Lambasted as 'Dangerous

"God says, 'One woman, one man' and everyone says … 'Oh, that's that old Bible stuff.'"

"Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson has proved time and again that he's not afraid to share his biblical worldview, repeatedly revealing and defending his beliefs on issues like homosexuality and partisan politics.

Robertson continued this trend in an interview with Tony Perkins' "Washington Watch" radio show this week, making claims about "immoral conduct" and sexually transmitted diseases that one blogger dismissed as "dangerous rhetoric."

"If you just look at the physiological downside to immorality," Robertson said. "Is this coincidental that viewing all of the immoral conduct that America now's participating in — I've asked a lot of people, 'Do you think it's a coincidence that all of these debilitating ... diseases follow that kind of conduct?'"

The reality TV star then highlighted specific diseases that he said would be avoided if people simply stayed in committed, biblical relationships.

"God says, 'One woman, one man' and everyone says … 'Oh, that's that old Bible stuff.' And I'm thinking, well, let's see now... a disease free guy and a disease free woman marry and they keep their sex between the two of them," Robertson continued. "They're not going to get chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis or AIDS. It's safe."

The "Duck Dynasty" star said that it seems implausible that sexually transmitted diseases tend to randomly follow "immoral" sexual acts by chance.

"Either it's the wildest coincidence ever that horrible diseases follow immoral conduct or it's God saying there's a penalty for that kind of conduct," Robertson said. "I'm leaning toward there's a penalty for it."

Blogger Jeremy Hooper dismissed these claims in a blog post highlighting Robertson's comments.

"More dangerous rhetoric from the 'Duck Dynasty' patriarch, who today appeared on the radio show of anti-gay leader Tony Perkins," he wrote.
