"We heard a commotion and next thing you know we saw the police."
It sounds like a scene straight out of Sweeney Todd.
Daniel Flores, 22, was giving 33-year-old Timothy Paul Vaughn a straight shave at Vic's Barber Shop in Imperial Beach, California Monday when police say Flores cut Vaughn's throat, left the barber shop and fled to his aunt's house before authorities could respond. Police later arrested Flores on charges of attempted murder.
"We heard a commotion and next thing you know we saw the police," said the owner of the sandwich shop located next door to the barber.
The owner told KGTV-TV in San Diego she saw Vaughn being taken out on a gurney, "shivering and shaking." The sandwich shop owner also said that once the emergency responders left, other barbers continued giving haircuts and shaves.
Vaughn, who suffered cuts to the throat, was taken to the University of California- San Diego Medical Center and listed in stable condition. Authorities did say he is expected to recover.
A possible motive has not yet been released.
