The man was shot after he allegedly approached officers with a knife.

Police in Los Angeles reportedly shot an armed suspect at the busy intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue on Friday night after officers responded to call involving assault with a deadly weapon.
Officer Jane Kim, of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Office, told several news outlets that the suspect was armed with a weapon when officers arrived at the scene and was subsequently shot.
The suspect was transferred to a Los Angeles hospital and remained in critical condition Friday night, KTLA-TV reported.

A woman who claimed to have witnessed the shooting tweeted an uncensored photo after the shooting.
"Literally just saw someone get shot at the corner of Hollywood & highland. I'm in shock," she wrote.
