Why an Ohio Woman Is Asking You to Take a Close Look at This Seemingly Decades-Old Photograph (UPDATE)

“I just noticed that obviously it’s an older photo..."

A woman in Southwest Ohio is asking for individuals to take a few moments and give a close look at a seemingly decades-old photograph.

According to WDTN, Samantha Bryson found the picture of three men who appeared to be in the military outside a grocery store in Vandalia, Ohio earlier this week.

“It was just laying face up in the parking lot,” she told the news outlet.

Bryson added, “It’s got the three gentleman on it who obviously were friends in the war."

Now, she is now hoping to help reunite the photograph with its owner.

“Especially with Facebook, I’ve got family and friends scattered all throughout Ohio and quite a few of them have already shared my post that I did on my wall. Hopefully it will make it’s way home,” Bryson told WDTN.

The year "1965" is written on the back of the photograph with three names: Dave Greenfield, EJ Braldey and CL Scherbenske.

“I just noticed that obviously it’s an older photo so it’s got to mean a lot to somebody,” Bryson said.

Those who may recognize one of the individuals in the photograph are urged to contact WDTN by emailing newstips@wdtn.com.

UPDATE: A former US Marshal came to WDTN's aid after seeing the photograph, tracking down one of the men in the photograph, Gerry Scherbenske.

When the station got in contact with him, Scherbenske told WDTN that he had mailed the photograph to his daughter who lives in Vandalia, Ohio.

He said the photo was taken halfway through his 1965 tour with the Marines in Vietnam.

Scherbenske now lives in North Dakota.

WDTN said reporters were working to contact Scherbenske's daughter to finally reunite her with the photo.
