Dish makes TheBlaze TV free to all subscribers

Satellite provider Dish Network has made TheBlaze TV available to all subscribers. The move comes as Dish and 21st Century Fox work to reach a new distribution contract.

TheBlaze TV is currently available on its regular channel, 212, but will now air on Fox News' Dish channel, 205.

Both Fox News and Fox Business went dark on Dish Saturday night.

“It’s like we’re about to close on a house and the realtor is trying to make us buy a new car as well,” Dish’s Senior Vice President of Programming Warren Schlichting said about the dispute between the two sides. “Fox blacked out two of its news channels, using them as leverage to triple rates on sports and entertainment channels that are not in this contract.”

“They did not want to accept terms and commitments that have become customary in a Fox News renewal,” Tim Carry, a Fox News executive in charge of distribution, told the Wall Street Journal in response.

The Journal reports the talks have currently stalled.

Dish subscribers can see the free Blaze TV preview until at least January 7.
