The Woman Police Thought Helped With the French Shooting Wasn't There. Now There's a New Theory About Where She's Gone.

"She...disappeared."

Where in the world is Hayat Boumeddiene?

The wanted woman, common law wife of one of the gunmen who attacked French magazine Charlie Hebdo, was thought to have been with her husband when he was cornered by law enforcement in a French kosher deli.

On Saturday, new intelligence revealed that Boumeddiene may not have been in France at all during the attacks — she may have traveled to Syria to join the Islamic State, CNN reported.

A Turkish intelligence official told the Associated Press that Boumeddiene arrived in Istanbul, a common waypoint for people traveling from Europe to Syria, on Jan. 2, and that she was spotted in the border town of Sanliurfa on Jan. 4.

"She then disappeared," the official said.
