Beck Says There Is a Crucial Reason the U.S. Shouldn't Send Ground Troops to Fight the Islamic State at This Time

"How can you have a sound battle plan or a strategy if you don't know the goal of the enemy?"

Glenn Beck on Wednesday said it is crucial the United States not send ground troops to fight the Islamic State until the U.S. government and the American people truly understand what motivates the terrorist group.

"Right now we are starting to hear talk in Washington about war and gearing up," Beck said on his television program. "I warn you, I warn you, don't do it. ... Not until we all understand who we are battling."

Beck praised Graeme Wood and The Atlantic for publishing a piece highlighting the Islamic State's "apocalyptic" ideology, noting that he has been trying to tell people the same thing since he was on CNN 2007.

"On the left, they never admit that these guys actually believe in something," Beck said. "But it really does matter. It does matter. I'm glad to see someone do their own homework and finally call it like it is ... especially after all the random folks and the talks of the Crusades, and '... what difference [at this point] does it make?'"

"It makes a lot of difference if you're in a fight for your life. It makes all the difference in the world!" Beck continued. "How can you have a sound battle plan or a strategy if you don't know the goal of the enemy?"

Beck said if the world truly is headed towards World War III, and those we are fighting are happy to martyr themselves to hasten the end times, it is crucial we not begin the fight "haphazardly."
