Horrifying Video Shows the Moment a Rap Mogul Drove His Truck Over Two Men. The Family of One of Those Men Wants People to Watch It.

"The Carter family is pleased you are releasing the video so the public can see what actually occurred..."

He pulls up in his truck.

A man dashes to his window.

Early Monday morning, TMZ released full video of the January hit-and-run that has rap mogul Suge Knight facing charges of murder and attempted murder — and in an unexpected twist, the family of the man who was killed in the incident actually asked TMZ to release the grisly footage.

"The Carter family is pleased you are releasing the video so the public can see what actually occurred and not be forced to speculate based on third-party descriptions of the video," Gary Dordick, lawyer for the family of the deceased Terry Carter, told TMZ.

TMZ reported on how the incident played out.

Knight drove to a location in Compton, California, where fellow music mogul Dr. Dre was filming his NWA biopic. Having been booted from a different filming location earlier that same day, Knight allegedly was trying to find Dr. Dre and make amends.

But as the video shows, when Knight's truck pulls up, a man on Dr. Dre's security team named Cle "Bone" Sloan runs up to the vehicle. A scuffle seems to ensue, and Knight whips the car into reverse, knocking down Sloan.

The key part comes in here: Knight claims he feared he'd be shot if he drove past the people nearby, while others say he had a clear path to drive away.

As the video shows, Knight ends up plowing his truck over the prostrate Sloan and also hits Carter, fatally injuring him.

Was the killing an act of self-defense?

Knight has claimed the video exonerates him, while prosecutors obviously feel differently.

After the hit-and-run, another man can be seen pulling something that could be a gun from Sloan's waistband, and Knight has claimed that Carter was among those threatening to shoot him.

Knight is no stranger to gunfire. In August, he was shot six times inside an Los Angeles nightclub.
