Border Crossing Agents in Spain Shocked by What They Saw in X-Ray of Suitcase
May 08, 2015
"Could have had a tragic end."
Border patrol agents probably see some interesting items in luggage during X-ray scanning, but it's not everyday they see a human being.
A Moroccan woman tried to smuggle an 8-year-old boy into Ceuta, Spain, Thursday, the Local reported.

"When they put the suitcase through the scanner, the operator noticed something strange, which seemed to be a person inside the case," a spokesman from the Civil Guard police force said, according to the news site. "When it was opened they found a minor in a terrible state."
The Spanish publication 20 Minutes (via an unofficial translation) reported that officials said the situation "could have had a tragic end."
According to the news outlet, the 19-year-old trying to sneak the child across the border was arrested. Later, a person identified as the boy's parent was arrested as well.
“I just wanted to take him to the Canaries with me,” the man, identified only as A.O., said, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The child was taken into custody for medical evaluation.
