Detestable': Pat Robertson's Response to Woman Who Asked, 'Why Did God Allow My Baby to Die?' Sparks Outrage

"F**k you, Pat... No seriously, just f**king die you worthless, disrespectful piece of sh*t."

Controversial televangelist Pat Robertson is catching some major flak over a response he gave to a woman who wrote into "The 700 Club" to ask how to respond to a co-worker who is struggling to believe in a God who would allow her 3-year-old child to suffer and die.

"Why did God allow my baby to die?" the grieving mother asked her co-worker, with the woman writing in to ask Robertson for guidance on how to adequately answer the question.

Robertson said first that there's a difference between Old Testament theology in which "God's responsible for everything," and New Testament theology in which "human beings have an agency, they have responsibility." He then went on to explain free will.

"A lot of things happen, because of what humans do," Robertson said, citing medical malpractice and mistakes made by doctors and nurses as examples of how individual choice can sometimes lead to situations in which people negatively impact others.

But it's what Robertson said about God that raised some eyebrows.

"As far as God's concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and he sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer — or he could go up to die of a hideous disease," Robertson said. "God sees all that. For that life to be terminated as a baby, he's going to be with God forever in heaven. So, that isn't a bad thing."

He continued, "A good God is going to take that baby to heaven right now."

Taking aim at the claims made in the clip, Mediaite called Robertson's logic "flawed" and questioned why God wouldn't have then also prevented Hitler or Stalin from growing up. Commenters on the YouTube clip that's been circling also made their opposition known.

"God kills 3 year old children and that's good, but a woman's right to choose?... that's bad," wrote user Timothy Gabriel.

User Squid Jones added, "This is perhaps the most detestable thing I've ever heard this vile old man say...and that's saying something."

Then there's Adam Langfelder who held little back in his critique, seemingly wishing death upon Robertson: "F*** you, Pat... No seriously, just f***ing die you worthless, disrespectful piece of s**t. You can't help but rub rock salt into the wounds of someone can you?"
