A Lot of People Have Noticed the Small Sign on the Front of One of the Buildings Attacked in Tennessee and It’s Sparking a Huge Debate
July 16, 2015
A gunman killed at least four marines Thursday afternoon in Tennessee when he unloaded a rain of gunfire into two military facilities, but the irony of a sign on one of the doors riddled with gunfire hasn't gone unnoticed.
On one of the doors — riddled with bullet holes — is a sign banning guns.
Chattanooga shooting site was #GunfreeZone.

How could #ChattanoogaAttacks happen in a gun free zone?! pic.twitter.com/vZm6KmNs3f

This photo says it all. Just unreal. Marines here don't have guns, come on in! https://t.co/2YoBXqfJfS

The debate over the sign quickly erupted on social media.
You don’t trust a soldier to carry a gun to protect themselves here but you trust them to serve??

Took you what? 20 mins to freak out about guns before focus on fallen? Grow up Dana https://t.co/JWyr2Qfi7p https://t.co/ncBthxm3E0

Longer. And you don’t have to act like a prick, @Montel_Williams . It’s a FACT. Gun free zone. STOP DISARMING TROOPS.

Stupidity is rampant in this country. Gun Free Zone=Target Rich Environment. https://t.co/2kDDG1Mpjx

Another shooting in a gun free zone? Why not return to allowing trained soldiers to carry their side arms? pic.twitter.com/InnkA12eRR

Chattanooga's mayor said five people died in all — including the gunman.
