Young Female Journalist Caught in Crossfire During Live Coverage of Violent Anti-Gov't Protests in Lebanon (Updated)

"You stink."

A TV reporter says protesters were protecting her when she seemingly fell into the crossfire between demonstrators and police while covering anti-government unrest in Lebanon over the weekend.

Nada Andraos Aziz, a correspondent for the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation, also known as LBC TV, was holding a microphone and speaking on camera when she found herself in the middle of the clash.

"The protesters were defending us and in my country we stand by each other," she said on Twitter Wednesday, dismissing initial reports, including by TheBlaze, that the protesters had attacked her.

The reporter is seen in a video posted by the network screaming in reaction to the chaos.

Watch it below:

The protests — which were organized by a group called "You Stink" — unfolded over government mishandling of trash, which was reportedly left sitting out for weeks in the streets.

The protests became so heated and violent that the Lebanese army was called in on Sunday to help temper tensions.

This story has been updated with the reporter's statements that protesters were protecting her, not attacking her.
