Abilene Officer's 'Suspicious' Killing Being Investigated by FBI, Texas Rangers as Court Document Reveals Alarming New Claims

"...[the investigating detective] believes this was a premeditated act."

An off-duty Abilene, Texas, police officer was found dead in his home on Monday. Speculation about the cop’s death was swirling on Wednesday, but one thing is clear — the death is suspicious enough that the Texas Rangers and FBI have been called in to investigate.

The death of Abilene officer Don Allen is being investigated as a homicide.

KTAB-TV reported that a "court document" related to the case stated the homicide "does not appear to be a random act" and based on "information provided by eye witnesses and provided by [the investigating detective's] investigation, [the investigating detective] believes this was a premeditated act."

Further, the document alleges "communication occurred between multiple parties to plan and carry out the murder," according to the news station.

A police spokesman said Allen was the only person inside the home when he was discovered by family members. He called the officer’s death “clearly suspicious.”

The Clyde and Abilene Police Departments along with the FBI and Texas Rangers have been working “non-stop” to solve the killing, he said.

The Abilene Police Department released a statement on Allen’s death, which partially states:

At this time, there does not appear to be any danger to members of the Clyde community, nor is there any indication that random law enforcement personnel are being targeted.

Officer Allen is survived by his parents of Clyde, as well as two brothers and a sister. This family is heartbroken over the loss of their loved one, as is our police family. Parents should not have to bury their children, and this family certainly needs our love and prayers during this time. Officer Allen was engaged to be married, having proposed to his fiancé on July 12th.

A message left with lead investigator with the Texas Rangers was not immediately returned.
