A Famed Singer Took to Twitter to Ask 'Prayer Warriors' to Help Ease Her Bad Anxiety — and This Well-Known Megachurch Pastor Responded
September 03, 2015
"I can't sleep."
When singer Jordin Sparks took to Twitter to ask for "prayer warriors" to help her through some intense anxiety on Monday morning, she received two responses from famed megapastor Rick Warren.
"I'm having such bad anxiety. I can't sleep," Sparks wrote. "If there's any prayer warriors out there, can you please send up a prayer for me?"

Warren, who leads Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, and who authored bestseller "The Purpose Driven Life," wasted no time in offering up some encouraging words, telling Sparks that he was praying for her and that she should focus in on God's love.
"Praying for u Jordin! False Evidence Appearing Real(Fear) is worse than the reality [sic]," he wrote in one tweet. "Don't resist it REFOCUS elsewhere."
In another, Warren added, "Focus on how deeply God loves you: 'Perfect love casts out all fear.' Focus on God's loves and move against fear in faith."

Warren and his wife Kay have taken the lead in recent years on mental health issues, encouraging churches to more readily confront mental illness following the 2013 suicide of their son Matthew.
The Warrens will be hosting a conference in October titled, "The Gathering on Mental Health & the Church" — an effort to encourage churches to give greater attention to these issues.
