Out of Control Texas High School Brawl Caught on Cellphone Video — Student Shrugs Off as 'Just Another Fight\
September 03, 2015
"It was punching, slapping hair pulling, just rolling on the ground..."
The academic year started out with a bang at one Texas high school, as four female students took to the hallways on Monday morning to throw punches, pull hair and brawl with one another in a spectacle that was caught on video — and quickly went viral.
The intense battle that unfolded between classes at Cypress Lakes High School in Katy, Texas, included two separate fights involving the four students, KTRK-TV reported.
The girls are seen in the video with students crowding around them, as they viciously attack one another, and a male student bizarrely dances in the middle of the chaos.
The fights were quickly halted by a police officer and teachers, but the scene was so startling that videos captured by onlookers have since been going viral.
Watch a news report that includes one of the shocking clips below:
Sophomore student Brandon Smith, who was among those who recorded the scene on his cell phone, described the chaos that unfolded.
"It was punching, slapping hair pulling, just rolling on the ground. You can just see them fighting on the ground and everybody was giving them space," Smith told KTRK-TV. "There's a big crowd around them. The teachers were trying to push everybody out of the way to get to them."
Kendall Norwood, another student at the school, told KHOU-TV, "I saw a lot of Skittles. Teachers were trying pull them apart. It was just wild."
Smith dismissed the brawl as "just another fight."
The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District released a statement expressing disappointment in its students' behavior, and said that it is not representative of the "pride our students take in themselves and our campus."
"The altercation was quickly broken up by staff and the students involved were disciplined according to the student code of conduct," it read.
Parents have expressed concern over the fight, especially considering that it happened at the start of the second week of school.
"That's why I tell my son mind your own business, stay out of trouble, and walk away," parent Bill Germano told KHOU-TV. "It's not worth this."
