VIDEO: State Dept. Spokesman Does Not Like a Russian Reporter’s Question on Iraq — and He Lets Her Know It

"You have to be looking at these questions and almost laughing to yourself.."

During a press briefing Friday, State Department spokesman John Kirby snapped at a Russian reporter, accusing her of asking "absolutely crazy" questions.

The reporter, Gayane Nhichakyan, who works for Kremlin-funded Russia Today, pressed Kirby over the United States' position on Turkey’s military deployment in Iraq.

According to the Agence-France Presse, the State Department previously announced this week that the United States' position is clear: that the two U.S. allies should settle their differences on their own.

But Nhichakyan pushed on, sparking a reaction from the typically cordial Kirby.

"You have to be looking at these questions and almost laughing to yourself, don’t you?" Kirby told Nhichakyan. "I mean, they're absolutely crazy."

Despite being chided publicly, the Russian reporter pressed further, insisting that the Obama administration is indifferent to Turkey's occupation in Iraq. Kirby did not appreciate the reporter's perseverance.

"I notice that your team very rarely asks any tough questions of their own government," Kirby responded, noting that RT is partially funded by the Russian government. "Here at the State Department, you can come in here and ask me whatever you want."

"And you can be just as challenging as you want to be and accusatory in your questions. Some of those today, absolutely ridiculous," he continued. "You can do that here in the United States."
