Luckily, The Force is Strong with This One': Hillary Clinton Campaign Tries to Get in on 'Star Wars' Craze
December 18, 2015
"These aren’t the candidates you’re looking for, America."
As millions of fans lined up for Thursday night's early screenings of the new "Star Wars" movie, Hillary Clinton sent out a tweet comparing the GOP candidates to the "Dark Side."
This year, Republicans reminded us that the Dark Side is alive and well. https://t.co/3BfPeTmDNv pic.twitter.com/ft3RTpMFWw

Clinton's tweet directed readers to her campaign website and a page filled with statements attributed to GOP candidates:
- Donald Trump said he’d ban Muslims from entering the United States.
- Chris Christie tried to trump him by saying he’d ban 5-year-old Syrian orphans from coming to America.
- Ted Cruz tried to shut down the U.S. government over Planned Parenthood.
- Jeb Bush called the American-born children of undocumented immigrants—aka U.S. citizens—“anchor babies.”
- Ben Carson said prison proves that being gay is “absolutely” a choice.
- Marco Rubio—who recently said he’d work to overturn marriage equality—even said he empathizes with Darth Vader.
A Star Wars-themed, animated GIF accompanied each talking point.

The post closes using two very famous Star Wars quotes, telling potential voters, "These aren’t the candidates you’re looking for, America." And, "Luckily, The Force is strong with this one."
