Ted Cruz Won't Attend State of the Union Address; Donald Trump Might Not Watch It at All

"Mr. Trump will be campaigning in Iowa."

As President Barack Obama heads to Capitol Hill tonight for his final State of the Union address, Sen. Ted Cruz will be campaigning in New Hampshire and GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump will be on the trail in Iowa.

Cruz, a Texas senator, would have a seat at Obama's address if he wanted it, but spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said that his campaign event in Londonderry, New Hampshire, takes precedence. The event is titled "The State of Our Union Town Hall with Ted Cruz," so Cruz will presumably be giving his own picture of the United States' health and direction.

Cruz will watch Obama's speech, though, and be available to give a response, Frazier added.

Trump will be holding a campaign rally in Cedar Falls, Iowa. When asked whether the candidate plans to watch Obama's State of the Union speech, spokeswoman Hope Hicks said, "Mr. Trump will be campaigning in Iowa."
