PERRY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in far northeast Ohio say a sheriff's deputy responding to a reported stabbing fatally shot a suspect who confronted officers with a gun.
They say Lake County deputies were called to a Perry Township home Thursday night by a woman reporting that her aunt had been stabbed, and the responders were met outside by an armed man who refused orders to drop the firearm. They say the suspect raised the gun, and a deputy fired at him.
The 54-year-old man later died at a medical facility.
Inside the home, deputies found a 55-year-old woman who'd been stabbed in the chest and back. She was flown to a hospital. No update on her condition was available early Friday.
Authorities planned a news conference later Friday to discuss what happened.
