Donald Trump Releases Detailed Health Care Plan, Pushes Full Repeal of Obamacare

"The reforms outlined above will lower healthcare costs for all Americans."

Businessman Donald Trump released his seven-point health care reform plan Wednesday, after facing a myriad of criticism for not giving specifics about his policy positions.

The plan, which was released one day before Thursday's Republican debate, is riddled with positions that reflect Republican and conservative ideas.

The Manhattan mogul, first and foremost, calls for a complete repeal of the Affordable Care Act — better known Obamacare. In the case of a Trump presidency, Trump says he will ask Congress on his first day in office to "immediately deliver" a full repeal of the prized-law.

In replacement, Trump's plan would break down the barriers that currently prevent health care plans from being sold across state lines. In addition, his plan would make individuals' health insurance premiums fully deductible, a luxury that businesses get to enjoy.

"Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions?" the plan says.

Trump also calls for an elimination of the individual mandate, the use of Health Savings Accounts and more overall transparency among health care providers. The plan would also block-grant Medicaid to states, which the plan says would give states "incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse."

However, the plan says Trump's proposals are "simply a place to start."

"We will work with Congress to make sure we have a series of reforms ready for implementation that follow free-market principles and that will restore economic freedom and certainty to everyone in this country," the plan states. "The reforms outlined above will lower healthcare costs for all Americans."

Lastly, the plan pledges bipartisian mental health reform without providing additional details.
