Drop the Beat': Obama Assists 'Hamilton' Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda in Freestyle Rap

"You think that's going viral? That's going viral."

"Drop the beat," President Barack Obama said as he aided a rap performance by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton,” Monday evening in the White House Rose Garden.

It is well known that Obama is a self-professed rap fan, but the president recently demonstrated that he can be even more involved.

"Constitution, the POTUS, I'm freestylin'. You know this," Miranda free-style rapped as Obama shuffled through the charades-style cue cards.

In the video of the performance, Obama manages to keep a straight face as Miranda spits verses about Obamacare, NASA, carbon footprints and more to a simple drum beat.

The White House posted the video to Twitter that evening for all to enjoy:

"You think that's going viral? That's going viral," Obama said at the end of the video.

Miranda's rap performance came the same day as the "Hamilton" cast's visit to the White House, hosted by first lady Michelle Obama.

Like the rest of his work, the unscripted stunt from the patriotic playwright and musician immediately took off on social media, fulfilling the president’s prediction.
