The Touching Reason Why a Congressman Wore a Crazy Suit on the House Floor

It wasn't for Saint Patrick's Day.

North Carolina Rep. Richard Hudson (R) walked onto the House floor wearing an absolutely insane suit Thursday.

Some Twitter users speculated that Hudson donned the suit — which included shades of green — in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, but Hudson said that it was actually in honor of the late Rep. Howard Coble (R-N.C.).

Coble represented North Carolina's 6th congressional district, and Hudson currently represents the 8th. He passed away in November. During his time in Congress, he was known for his unique fashion sense.

Coble would have celebrated his 85th birthday on Friday.

This post has been updated to reflect that Hudson represents North Carolina's 8th congressional district.
