Pro Basketball Player Injured in Brussels Airport Explosion

A Brazilian basketball player was seen Tuesday lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the Brussels airport.

Brazilian basketball player Sebastien Bellin is one of nearly 200 people injured in Tuesday’s terror attack in Brussels.

Bellin, who once played for Belgium’s national team, was photographed lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the Brussels airport.

The Daily Mail reported that the 37-year-old professional athlete was thrown 20 meters into the air by one of the explosions Tuesday morning and has since undergone surgery for his injuries.

Belgium’s national team shared a link on its Facebook page Tuesday morning with a message for Bellin: “The whole Gent Hawks family wishes him a speedy recovery.”

The European professional basketball association FIBA Europe Cup also shared its well-wishes for Bellin via Twitter:

BC Telenet Oostende, a professional Belgian basketball club, shared updates on Bellin's condition with fans on Twitter.

"UPDATE: Sebastian Bellin has his first surgery. There are now still shards in his leg and hip. He was thrown out 20m," a translated tweet read.
