Police Are Investigating Pundit’s Death as Suicide After His Seemingly Ominous Final Blog Post Referencing Trump

“If I'm not around to see the vote results..."

Indiana police are investigating the death of a political blogger as a suicide following an ominous final post, according to The Indianapolis Star.

Gary Welsh, 53, a practicing attorney who ran a well-known local political commentary blog called Advance Indiana, offered a prediction for Tuesday’s primary in the state.

“If I'm not around to see the vote results, my prediction is that Trump wins Indiana with just shy of 50% of the vote,” Welsh wrote on the blog on Friday.

According to the Star, police responded to a report of a person shot early Sunday morning.

From the police report:

"Police dispatch stated that the caller observed what they believed to be a person shot in the stairwell of the building with the gun still laying on the scene. Person shot was confirmed and victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics."

After the post was published, several commenters on the blog expressed concern for Welsh.

"Btw, Gary, should we read any foreboding in your words about 'if you are around for the election results.' Take care of yourself, please," Marycatherine Barton wrote.

"Mary Catherine - thank you for posting the question re: Gary's safety. I was thinking the same thing and thought I had posted it. Gary???" another added.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on Monday, according to the Star.
