While the American public is perhaps more sharply divided politically than ever before, there are a few areas in which Republicans and Democrats do seemingly agree.
A whopping 84 percent of Americans think money plays too big of a role in political campaigns, according to a New York Times poll, and 85 percent feel that politicians either sometimes or most of the time promote policies that benefit their campaign contributors.
With many voters now fed up with what they see as a cynical cycle of money and favors, "outsider" candidates like Donald Trump and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders have drawn unexpected support in the 2016 election.
