Looking for a movie that will promote “positive American values?”
The Christian Film & Television Commission’s movie rating guide, Movieguide, has announced the nominees for the Bradley Foundation Faith and Freedom Award — an award that honors films that promote "positive American values."
And the full list of nominees, which was provided exclusively to TheBlaze, is:
- Captain America: Civil War
- God’s Not Dead 2
- Hacksaw Ridge
- Hail, Caesar!
- Queen of Katwe
- Sing
- Sully
Dr. Ted Baehr, chairman of CFTVC, told TheBlaze that the award aims to “encourage Hollywood to make more films that honor these two cardinal building blocks of our republic.”
“Faith and freedom are the foundation in the building blocks of the American vision,” Baehr said. “Since the beginning of the film industry in the 1890s, movies that focused on faith and freedom not only succeeded at the box office, but also called the American people to defend these precious fundamental building blocks of the republic.”
The winner of the Bradley Foundation Faith and Freedom Award will be announced at Movieguide’s annual Faith & Values Awards Gala in Los Angeles Feb. 10.
The entertainment ministry organization has already announced its nominees in other categories, such as best movies for families and best movies for mature audiences. “Finding Dory,” “The Secret Life of Pets” and “Zootopia” are among the 10 nominees for best movies for families.
