Former Attorney General Eric Holder and former FBI Director James Comey hit back at President Donald Trump after he criticized the FBI over the weekend.
Trump declared Sunday on Twitter that the FBI’s reputation is in “tatters” following Comey’s tenure as its leader. Trump's tweet followed the report that a top FBI agent who worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation was dismissed from a supervisory role in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation over anti-Trump bias.
After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputatio… https://t.co/gdbdgXZ57e— Donald J. Trump (@Donald J. Trump)1512306047.0
In a separate tweet, Trump questioned why former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s “life is destroyed” because he lied to the FBI, yet Clinton got off scott-free from her private email scandal. The president wondered if there is a “double standard” or if the system is “rigged."

Did anyone else say anything?
Yes. Sally Yates, who was acting attorney general for the first 10 days of Trump’s administration, slammed Trump on Twitter:
The FBI is in “tatters”? No. The only thing in tatters is the President’s respect for the rule of law. The dedica… https://t.co/XfomorYMKE— Sally Yates (@Sally Yates)1512355559.0
FBI Agents Association president Thomas O’Connor also released the following statement:
Every day, FBI Special Agents put their lives on the line to protect the American public from national security and criminal threats. Agents perform these duties with unwavering integrity and professionalism and a focus on complying with the law and the Constitution.
This is why the FBI continues to be the premier law enforcement agency in the world. FBI Agents are dedicated to their mission; suggesting otherwise is simply false.
