Father of teen killed by illegal alien blasts sanctuary city mayor: 'She has blood on her hands

Jamiel Shaw Sr., the father of a California teen killed by an illegal immigrant, says that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf (D) has "blood on her hands" as a result of preemptively announcing a recent ICE raid.

Shaw appeared on Fox News on Friday, where he discussed Schaaf's decision to give the public a  heads-up about a February ICE raid, and said that he believes Schaaf should be prosecuted for "aiding and abetting."

What's the history?

Schaaf publicly announced the imminent February ICE raid by sending the notice out to her more than 20,000 Twitter followers.

Schaaf said she felt the raids warranted an announcement for the sake of protecting the public. In her announcement, Schaaf was sure to add that local police are prohibited from cooperating with federal immigration officials.

California became a sanctuary state on Jan. 1.

Despite Schaaf’s apparent aims, officials still arrested more than 200 illegal immigrants in the area.

About 180 of those arrested “were either convicted criminals, had been issued a final order of removal and failed to depart the United States, or had been previously removed.”

In response to the Schaaf's move, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan revealed that the Department of Justice would launch an investigation as to whether Schaaf obstructed justice, and later noted that he believed her announcement helped 800 illegal immigrants avoid deportation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions echoed Homan's sentiments regarding the 800 illegal immigrants and said, “Those are 800 wanted criminals that are now at large in that community — 800 wanted criminals that ICE will now have to pursue with more difficulty in more dangerous situations, all because of one mayor’s irresponsible action.”

What did Shaw say on Fox?

Pedro Espinoza, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, shot and killed Jamiel Shaw Jr. in 2008 when Shaw Jr. was just 17 years old. In November 2012, Espinoza was sentenced to death.

"You know, it was just disgusting," Shaw Sr. said on Friday's "Fox & Friends."

"[Schaaf's] job is to protect the citizens, the American citizens, you know," he continued. "And for her to take a stand like that, she’s allowing Americans to be murdered."

Shaw Sr. added, "She has blood on her hands because she could have easily just let them go into the jail system and capture those criminals, but she allowed them to come out, and then for people to be murdered and raped and robbed and identity theft; that’s all on her and people like her."

He also noted that he — and other parents of children killed by illegal immigrants — believes that Schaaf should be prosecuted for "aiding and abetting and ... putting our lives in danger."

"Right now, you're hearing everybody demanding to be safe in their schools and their communities," he said. "When our kids are murdered, and we demand to be safe, we're all racists and bigots, and because Trump supports us, we're all bad people."

"The guy who killed my son was on his third gun charge!" he exclaimed. "But they don't care if illegal aliens carry guns and kill our kids."
