LA Antifa group hangs Trump effigy, calls for 'revolutionary violence' against capitalism

A Los Angeles Antifa group, the Red Guards, celebrated May Day by holding a small march, hanging a Trump effigy, and calling for "revolutionary violence" against the "capitalist state," according to published reports.

"We must carry out military actions against the enemies of the people!” a member of the L.A. cell of the Red Guards wrote on the group's blog.

PJ Media explains the groups political stance:

The Red Guards is a Maoist group that hopes to duplicate in the United States the anarchy and terror Chairman Mao's Red Guards inflicted on China during the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 1970s. The group also identifies as "antifascist" and has cells throughout the United States.

Throughout the world, "hundreds of thousands of leftists" mobilized for the annual “International Workers' Day” on May 1 to advocate for various "social justice causes" and celebrate communism.

The Red Guard's blog states that it stands "in solidarity with the Red Guards and principally Maoist collectives who are working towards the creation of the Maoist Party. We stand in solidarity with Maoist parties across the world who are committed to building socialism and fighting revisionism through People’s War!"

The group's blog also states how it plans to organize:

“What needs to be done is the concentric construction of the three weapons of revolution: the Maoist Party, the Maoist People’s Army, and the Maoist United Front. What needs to be done is to militarize the masses and all the pre-Party Maoist formations!”

Protests in France, Turkey, and Puerto Rico turned violent but were relatively tame in the U.S. In Paris, Red Guard members "firebombed businesses and torched police cruisers," Far Left Watch reported.

Many supporters in the U.S. quietly protested and demanded a larger and more authoritarian government, according to the report.

"Although criminal activity was surprisingly low this year, the violent rhetoric from militant antifa groups absolutely escalated," Far Left Watch wrote.

PJ Media reported that during protests in the U.S., 22 police cruisers in Portland, Oregon, were vandalized and Red Guard members were arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, and in Kansas City, Missouri.
